Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter (softened) Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 4 large eggs Room temperature
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk Room temperature

For the strawberry filling

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced) Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 0.25 cups sugar For macerating the strawberries.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture while alternating with milk until just combined.
  • Pour batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow cakes to cool completely before layering with the strawberry filling.

Notes

Serve adorned with sliced strawberries and a dusting of powdered sugar for a beautiful presentation. Consider a dollop of whipped cream on the side.
