Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill your dough for about 30 minutes before baking. If out of brown sugar, use white sugar mixed with molasses. For extra fudginess, take them out of the oven right at 10 minutes. You can also add nuts or use white chocolate chips for a twist. Save some cookie dough for snacking!
