  • 1 pound sausage Cooked and crumbled
  • 8 pieces eggs Large
  • 2 cups shredded cheese Any type of your choice
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups milk Any kind of milk
  • 1 loaf bread Cubed; use day-old for best results
  • 1 tablespoon chopped herbs Optional; e.g., parsley or chives

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  • Layer the cubed bread in a greased baking dish.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread, followed by the cooked sausage and cheese.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Baking

  • In the morning, remove from the fridge and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until set and golden.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, and consider adding salsa, avocado, or hot sauce for extra flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage.
