  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sift for an ultra-fluffy cookie.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Mix-Ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Can be replaced with seeds for a nut-free option.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, then stir in chocolate chips and optional nuts.

Baking

  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.
  • To freeze, place dough balls on baking sheets and freeze until solid, then transfer to bags.
  • When baking from frozen, add 1-2 minutes to the cooking time.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to reduce spreading. For a fun twist, add a sprinkle of sea salt on top or experiment with mix-ins like white chocolate or toffee bits.
