  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 small onion, chopped

Preparation

  • In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  • Toss in the minced garlic, cumin, and chili powder, and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.

Notes

For extra creaminess, blend half the soup. To spice it up, add cayenne pepper or jalapeños. Use vegetable broth for a vegan option.
