  • 6 pieces chicken thighs, bone-in, skin-on Choose bone-in for extra flavor and moisture.
  • ½ cup honey
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a bowl, mix honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ground ginger until well combined.
  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Place the chicken thighs in a resealable bag or a shallow dish, pour the marinade over the chicken, and let marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours).

Cooking

  • Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, add the chicken thighs skin-side down, and sear for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Flip the chicken pieces over, pour the remaining marinade into the skillet, and transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • Halfway through cooking, baste the chicken with the sauce.
  • Remove from oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Optionally, sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Got leftovers? Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to 3 months, reheating in the oven to retain crispness. For added heat, consider incorporating red pepper flakes.
