Homemade Salisbury Steak

Ingredients
  

For the Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • to taste Salt and pepper

For the Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For cooking the patties
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour For thickening the sauce

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Form into patties.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and onions, sauté until tender.
  • Stir in flour, cooking for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until thickened.
  • Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or noodles. For bolder flavor, add a splash of soy sauce or cheese on top before serving.
