  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced You can substitute with sweet potatoes for a healthier twist.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup You can use a vegan alternative if needed.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Cheddar works best, but feel free to use your favorite.
  • 1 onion, chopped You can mix in garlic for extra flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until fully cooked through. Drain excess fat.

Assembly

  • In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  • Spread the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes, then layer the remaining potatoes on top.
  • Pour the cream of mushroom soup evenly over the layers.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cover with shredded cheese.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a crunchier topping, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle on top before baking. You can add veggies like peas or carrots to enhance the nutrition.
