Frosting Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Fold in the colorful sprinkles!

Baking

  • Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting

  • For the frosting, beat together powdered sugar and butter until smooth. Add cream and vanilla, mixing until fluffy.
  • Once the cakes are cooled, frost between the layers and on the top and sides of the cake. Sprinkle with more sprinkles as desired!

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Adjust cream in frosting to reach desired consistency.
