Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and whisk for about 1 minute.
  • Gradually add milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat, and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, then mix in the cheese sauce and cooked macaroni.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can add various ingredients like sautéed vegetables, cooked bacon, or crumbled sausage for variations. If reheating leftovers, add a splash of milk for creaminess.
