Crumbl Red Velvet Cupcake Cookies

Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1/2 cup butter (salted or unsalted) Softened
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1-2 tsp red gel food coloring Adjust for desired color
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cookie saved dough for decoration Bake for 7-8 minutes

For the Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese Softened
  • 3 tbsp butter Softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Again!
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, vinegar, and red gel food coloring. Mix until combined.
  • Gradually add in the flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Scoop out the dough into nine equally-sized balls and flatten them slightly.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes, then cool on the baking sheet for 10-15 minutes.
  • Use the saved dough to bake a decorative cookie for 7-8 minutes.

Frosting

  • In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.

Serving

  • Top the cookies with cream cheese frosting and add red velvet crumbs for decoration.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh and chewy. They last 3-5 days at room temperature and up to a week in the fridge.
