  • 8 slices slices of bread, cubed
  • 12 large large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pound sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)

Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Garnish

  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer the cubed bread evenly.
  • Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the bread, then layer the shredded cheese on top.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the layers in the baking dish, ensuring everything gets a nice coat.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the casserole is set and golden on top.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions, if you’re feeling fancy!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3-4 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave, or warm it in the oven. You can make this dish ahead of time by preparing it the night before and baking it in the morning.
