Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 ¾ cups warm water Ensure the water is warm but not hot.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast.
  • Gradually add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let it rise at room temperature for 8 to 24 hours until bubbly and doubled in size.
  • Once the dough has risen, flour a work surface and gently turn the dough out.
  • Divide the dough into pieces and shape them into loaves.
  • Let the loaves rest for about 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a baking stone or an inverted baking sheet inside.
  • Transfer the loaves onto the hot surface and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  • Let them cool before slicing.

Notes

For best results, maintain a wet dough for an airier bread. Store Ciabatta Bread tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 2-3 days, or freeze for up to a month.
