Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 40 crackers Saltine crackers Arrange in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • 1 cup Butter Melted for the mixture.
  • 1 cup Brown sugar Also melted with the butter.
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips Can use dark, milk, or white chocolate.

Optional toppings

  • 1 cup Nuts Chopped, optional.
  • 1 cup Candy canes Crushed, for a festive touch.
  • 1 teaspoon Sea salt For sprinkling on top.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
  • Pour the melted mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5-6 minutes, or until bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  • Let it sit for a couple of minutes to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly.
  • Optionally, sprinkle with nuts, crushed candy canes, or sea salt.
  • Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces and serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, or freeze for up to two months. Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds for softness.
