Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda Critical for light and fluffy cookies.

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened) Room temperature is best.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature works best.
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark) Add more for gooey cookies.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda.
  • In another large bowl, cream the softened butter with both brown and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs, one at a time, along with the vanilla extract. Mix well after each addition.
  • Gradually combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just blended.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let them cool on wire racks.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them soft and chewy. Dough can be frozen for later baking.
