Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef For browning
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Thinly slice for even cooking
  • 1 each onion, diced For flavor
  • 2 cups shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk To mix with soup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, or other seasonings For added flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  • In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings you like.

Assembly

  • In a greased 9×13 inch casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by the ground beef mixture, and half of the cheese.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, meat, and cheese.
  • Pour the soup mixture over the casserole.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and potatoes are tender.

Notes

Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of fresh herbs like parsley, and pair with a crunchy green salad or roasted veggies. Leftovers keep well in the fridge for 3-4 days or can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
