Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 8 slices slices of bread, cubed Any type of bread can be used, stale bread works well.
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled Feel free to substitute with bacon or ham.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Swiss or pepper jack can also be used.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 6 pieces eggs

Seasonings

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, arrange the bread cubes.
  • Scatter the cooked sausage over the bread.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread, sausage, and cheese.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Cooking

  • Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden on top.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serving can be enhanced with fresh fruit or toast. Garnish with herbs or hot sauce for an extra kick. Store leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
