  • 1 cup diced onion Fresh onions preferred.
  • 1 cup diced green bell pepper For added sweetness.
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms Fresh or canned mushrooms can be used.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz) Can substitute with cream of celery or chicken.
  • 1/2 cup milk Use any milk of your choice.
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared) Can be made from scratch or store-bought.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust seasoning as per preference.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional) Add for a cheesy topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms until the beef is cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a greased baking dish, layer the beef mixture and top with prepared mashed potatoes.
  • If desired, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and cheese is melted.

Notes
