Ingredients
  

For the apple fries

  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith) Choose firm apples for best results.
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour Can use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs Can use gluten-free panko for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Substitute with brown sugar for a deeper sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Experiment with spices like nutmeg or pumpkin spice.
  • as needed nonstick cooking spray For air frying.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the air fryer.
  • Peel (optional) the apples, slice them into fry-like sticks, and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Create coating stations: In one bowl, add flour; in another, whisk together egg and milk; in a third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.

Coating

  • Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip it in the egg mixture, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.

Cooking

  • Lightly spray the coated apple sticks with nonstick spray and place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for about 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.

Serving

  • Enjoy warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream, or eat them plain.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for best results.
